How to show up when people ask ChatGPT or Google AI for a local business

By Richemont Solutions. Published October 2, 2026.

The short answerNobody can promise a spot in an AI answer. What helps is the same groundwork that helps ordinary search: a clear site, a complete Google Business Profile, matching business details everywhere, and real reviews. We do all of it here, and we'll say plainly what we can't prove.

What we know and what we don't

AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, and the AI summaries inside Google, pull from web pages, business listings, and reviews. The companies that make them don't publish exactly how they choose, so anyone who sells a sure method is guessing.

What follows is what we do because it's sensible and cheap, not a formula.

Say who you are and what you do in plain words

An AI tool can only repeat what a page says. If your site says what you do, where you work, and what it costs in the first few sentences, it's easy to quote. A page that says "solutions for your needs" gives it nothing.

Keep your details identical everywhere

Your business name, phone number, hours, and service area should match on your site, your Google Business Profile, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, and any directory you're in. When listings disagree, search engines and AI tools have to guess which one to trust.

Answer real questions on your site

A short FAQ with direct answers ("How much does a panel upgrade cost?" "Do you pull permits?") gives search engines and assistants text they can lift. We also mark the questions up so they're machine-readable.

Make sure crawlers are allowed in

Some hosting setups block AI crawlers by default. Check your robots.txt and your host's bot settings. Ours allows search and AI crawlers on every public page.

Get real reviews and replies

Reviews and your replies are some of the most-read text about a local business. Ask after each job, and answer every review the way you'd talk to the customer.

What about llms.txt?

It's a plain text file that summarizes a site for AI tools. We publish one at /llms.txt because it costs almost nothing. We can't point to proof that any major assistant uses it, so don't pay anyone extra for it.

Bing counts too

Some AI assistants have been reported to draw on Bing's search index, so being in Bing is worth the small effort. Setting up Google and Bing both is part of how we launch a site.

Questions

Quick answers

Can you guarantee my business shows up in ChatGPT?

No. Nobody outside those companies can. We make your site, listings, and reviews clear and consistent, which is what gives you a chance.

Is AI visibility different from SEO?

The groundwork overlaps a lot. Clear pages, correct listings, and real reviews help both. The AI side adds a few extras, like machine-readable FAQs and letting crawlers in.

How would I know if I'm showing up?

Ask the assistants the questions your customers ask, in your city, and see what comes back. It's a rough check, and answers change from day to day.
